An Index of Brazilian SFFH Writing in English
Below is an attempt to list all (or most) Brazilians who have published speculative fiction, poetry and non-fiction in English.
For the sake of simplicity, I restricted the index to Brazilians born or raised in Brazil, and am only including original work published directly in English that went through an editorial process, which means no translations that have been published first in Portuguese (simultaneous publications on both languages are ok), no reprints, and no self-pub. In non-fiction, I’m adding solo essays, articles and columns, but no reviews, personal blog posts, interviews, round-tables, etc. Columns will be listed as a singular item in the author’s list, and same-publication short essays/articles will be treated as columns. I’m also not adding Twitter-sized microfiction, or comics.
The reason I created this index was to have a better understanding of the presence of Brazilians in the English-speaking SFF market, and I’m making it public so anyone who wants to research can use it as well. Bear in mind that I haven’t read all of these stories, so I cannot attest the quality of all of them — this is for archival purposes only.
If you know someone who is not on this list, or have recently published a new story/article, feel free to send me the proper information in the comments, and I’ll be happy to add it!
